How to Turn On Sensitive Content Warnings on Pixel 11 Pro with Android 17

Sensitive content warnings blur photos and videos with nudity in Google Messages before you see them, and add an extra confirmation step before you send one. The switch lives in Settings search — find it, open it, and turn it on.

Confirm the warnings are on

The switch flips on with a checkmark: incoming photos with nudity are now blurred, and sending such a photo needs an extra confirmation first.

Good to know

  1. The warnings only apply to Google Messages — incoming photos and videos with nudity are blurred and can be deleted before viewing.
  2. Sending a photo with nudity also changes: you are reminded of the risks and must confirm before it sends.
  3. Detection happens only on your device — the page states your conversations stay private.
  4. The setting is found through Settings search, not by browsing a menu — there is no Sensitive content warnings row on the Settings main page.
